The guest room in our new home has an empty 82" curtain rod (and Venetian blinds) that I'm going to use as a challenge to make a simple valance. I'm envisioning maybe 15" finished width (loom width), which would be turned 90 degrees and run the length of the rod with a rod pocket: all white (plain weave or similar) with a ~4" band of blue/white pattern near the bottom of the drop/15" (like a border). I'd like to use the huck lace pattern from a draft in Handwoven (May/June 2020) for napkins, which I'm weaving now (so I can't make a test warp), using the same 10/2 perle cotton (Supreme/UKI).
My only talent is following directions - so branching out to produce cloth for sewing is a HUGE leap. I played with the free version of FiberWorks and came up with the attached screenshot based on the napkin draft. I inadvertently reversed the colors (blue would be white thread, and yellow would be blue thread). The blue area (on one side or the other of the blue/yellow pattern threads) would simulate the "plain weave" for most of the 15-inch finished valance drop length.
My question is whether my hare-brained pattern draft in the screenshot would work - and so I would appreciate any and all comments/thoughts on this idea (and my thanks in advance!)
