Hello, fairly new weaver and new Spring 2 owner here!

I am trading in my Schacht Baby Wolf towards a new 110cm Spring 2 and wondering if I can use my narrower reeds in the wider Spring beater? Would it change the balance or function? My Spring isn’t here yet to check it out and I’m wondering if I should keep my reeds.

I have a Louet Jane 70 cm and use my Jane reeds on my Spring ll 110cm without problems, but the reeds are exactly the same depth as one another. I would think that provided they are st least the same depth / height, they should be fine because they’ll accommodate the big shed that the spring gives you . you will get a 10 dent reed delivered with your new spring. Obviously the reed width from
your wolf reeds will restrict your weaving width to less than 110cm !

Yes, I agree with Jill. Just center the shorter reed before sleying.
Maybe the place you are doing your trade in would offer a trade in a wider reed as well if you think you will require a wider one for a future project.

The spring will come with “10” dent reed -can’t recall the metric version.
