I have finished and filled a Harrisville Shetland blanket. I am giving it to my son and family but not sure what to tell them about cleaning it. So, suggestions on whether it can be gently washed or not or ideas on how to clean are much appreciated.
Thanks!
Catherine
It all depends š Do they know that you canāt machine wash some wool items? Iād suggest that they take it to the dry cleaners - it wouldnāt have to happen that often. As the āmother of sonsā, they sometimes donāt realize that a hand woven item is really special and needs to be treated with love and care. A few years ago, I visited my son who lives in Asia and found the hand spun, dyed and woven blanket I had made for him was now a ādesign featureā. It was rolled and standing in the corner of the bedroom. At least he still had it š
Oh yes. I had one boy-man turn his woolen cap into a baby cap. Next one was superwash.
Thereās a few of those here, too. And Iām guilty, myself. I turned TWO sweaters into kid sweaters thinking they were superwash yarn. Unfortunately, the kid that they fit has outgrown them. š
I did that long ago. Fortunately had a little one to wear itš
