Hello all
I would really like to use this thread for those among you with sewing/ tailoring skills to share any ways that you have used your woven fabric to make clothes, bags etc. Information on patterns and instructions on how to follow them would be great! I was just checking out the thread on ‘season 5, episode 2 question on the online guild’ and admiring the photo from Elmer.mary showing the beautiful tunic she made with her canvas weave sampler. I would love to try something like that but need help! I enjoy weaving scarves and shawls etc but am very keen to use my weaving to make other items of clothing too. Hope to hear from anyone who can help with this. Thanks!
I can offer a few resources for you. The first is Darryl Lancaster’s A Weaver Sews website and you tube channel. She produces some great and detailed patterns. I just love her!
The Etsy shop Get Weaving has some adorable patterns for handwoven fabric.
And I am personally in LOVE with StyleArc patterns. Many of them are perfect for handwoven fabrics.
Hello Patti
Thanks very much for that information. I have taken a quick look at the resources you mentioned and they look like just what I need! Now I just have to weave lots of cloth! Maybe I need a floor loom to speed things up a bit….but I think I better stick with my Louet Jane table loom for the time being. It can weave up to 70 cm so hopefully that will be enough.
Thanks again.
Get Weaving patterns are all designed for narrower width fabrics. But you should be able to make a lot of items with your Jane loom. Please share photos as you go along!
OK thank you.
