I understand that floating seal edges are required. Are they included in periwinkle count? I’ve started threading and after the 1st grouping prior to repeating it I have 1 periwinkle left. Thanks.
Hi Maureen,
I just checked the PDF and yes, the Periwinkle floaters are included in your 335 thread warp. If you've checked your threading and everything is accounted for, just throw this one extra Periwinkle fella over the back of the loom while you are weaving.
Thanks, I counted but obviously did it wrong and it didn’t make sense that the gray threading would start with a periwinkle so thought I should check. Sometimes the PDFs specifically indicate the float as part of the warp sequence and sometimes don’t.
Ginette - I believe I will have to have 336 (an even number) of threads to warp my loom back to front. If I then just throw the extra thread off the back of the loom will it affect the tension? Since this would be half of one thread wrapped around the back beam hanging off the back, only the other half would be attached to the apron rod.
Hi clkandel,
Yes, you can certainly throw that extra thread at the back of the loom and let it dangle there and start weaving. Your tension will only be affected once you've reach towards the end of your warp and you'll feel it, or watch for it at the end, then you can go to the back and tie the loose thread onto your warping rod or apron to secure it. :)
Thanks Ginette. I hadn't thought about securing the loose thread when it was near the end of the warp.
