Is is there a lesson or a thread on how to estimate how much thread is left on a partially used cone? I’m always wondering if I have enough left to make another project? Any help would be useful thank you.

If you have a scale that measures in grams, you could weigh the partially used cone. Then if you have an empty cone (just the cardboard part), weigh that. Then calculate the difference between the two cones and you should have the total weight in grams of the yarn on the partially used cone. Next you would look up the specs of the yarn, ie the yardage for the weight in grams for that particular yarn and calculate the approximate yardage.

Kathleen has given you a great answer to your question. If you don’t have an empty cone to weigh - there is an item on the Knowledge Base with the weights of common cones -
