I am a beginner and have an Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom. Will the classes be ok with this type of loom?
How wide is your rigid heddle loom, Gail?
24 inch
That’s great, Gail! You’ll be able to weave almost all the samples right up to the end of Season 3. Season 4 features 4-shaft Twill, so I think the samples might be a tad more challenging on a rigid heddle. But, you will be busy for a long time weaving the samples in Season’s 2 & 3 😁
Thank you Sandra
Just add more information to your answer - Ginette pointed out this answer from Jane on Rigid Heddle looms -
“I welcome you with open arms to this weaving adventure… I know your looms are small but if you have a 15 dent reed you will be in great shape. I would suggest you just start at 15 EPI. In the first episode of Season 2 you saw how dreamy the 8/2 was at 14 and 16 ends per inch so if you are working at 15… that is perfect.”
Thank you for adding this!!!!
Hello Gail
As a user of the Ashford rigid heddle loom, I was interested in this thread. Did you find a 15 dpi heddle for your loom? I checked the Artifilum suppliers I use in France, and they didn’t seem to have anything finer than the 12.5 dpi reed. I would be very interested to hear if you, or anyone else can advise me where to get the 15dpi reed. Thanks.
I have recently started taking the school of weaving lessons. Looking for a new loom, I am impressed with the Louët David 3 that Jane use in Season 1 Episode 3. What weaving width does the loom have used in de lessons?
My David 3 is 90cm and I don't think we've had a lesson yet that went that wide.
