I have purchased the Ruckle Beach Blankie pattern, and I would like to weave it as a wider blankie than the pattern suggests. To do so, I will have to make it a double weave project.

Do you have suggestions on how to modify the tie up and treadling? I am new to double weave, so this is a bit ambitious for me.

I wove this pattern as 2 shawls. I think it would be problematic to weave this double width due to it being a two shuttle weave and the DDL pattern area.

I've only done a double width blanket that didn't necessitate anything more complicated than stripes in the weft.

I converted a waffle weave to double width. I used the tool in fiberworks “double weave “. And it worked! I didn’t believe it at first but I did some adjusting and wove a sample. Changed my sett and sampled again.
Worth a try. Helps a lot to watch Jane’s video on double weave. Best tip was to leave a space in the reed before the last warps at the fold side.

Before my first double weave project I read Jennifer Moore’s Doubleweave book. She simplified it all for me. It’s my double weave bible. I’m about ready to review it again for an upcoming blanket project.

I think I may have figured it out - working with 3 shuttles, 2 dark and 1 light:
S1 - Treadle 1, Treadle 2
S2 - Treadle 3, Treadle 4
S3 - Treadle 1, Treadle 2
(at this point, all shuttles are on the same side, on the same layer again)
S1 - Treadle 4, Treadle 3
S2 - Treadle 2, Treadle 1
S3 - Treadle 4, Treadle 3

Sooo. . .it will be T B T B T B B T B T B T

I will sample this idea as soon as I finish the kitchen towels that are now on the loom, and I'll report back. Fingers crossed!
