In season one planning, Jane mentioned sewing shetland blanket panels together. I'd love to see some examples.
We don’t have any in the studio but there is a fair amount of information on line. I was hoping that someone who had done this would pop in with some photos of their work 😉 Does anyone out there have an example they can post?
I don't have any examples...but if I were to weave separate panels, I would count the picks (just put in a contrasting thread every 20-25 picks and keep track) so that when you needle weave together you are spot on length wise. I would also needle weave the panels together BEFORE wet finishing. The Harrisville Shetland is stiff and coarse just off the loom, and the open spaces between picks will be very east to see.
I'm really interested in the technique of needle weaving. Is it a stitch that will be invisible after finishing? Or is it meant to be decorative? Do you know where I can find instruction on it? Thank you.
Roxane, Here are the instructions from an Ashford rigid heddle loom multi-panel blanket that I am weaving:

Thank you! Just what I was looking for!
I just finished weaving the Hygge Blanket in two pieces and need to connect. I'm worried about it pulling apart. I've read the suggestions so far. Any other stitch suggestions that will be strong whether invisible or decorative?
