I'm ready to try double weave with fingers crossed! As I don't want to use wool, I thought that perhaps using 8/4 cotton would be easiest for me. I was planning on 12 epi and want to make it 40" total. Is 12 epi okay to use on this project with the 8/4? Also, since it won't be fulled, can I not worry about pulling a thread out on the seam side? Finally, I'm thinking of doing the 1 and 3 for the top and the 2 and 4 for the bottom. I think Jane said something about doing this to help avoid the buildup on 1 and 2? Thanks! Lorraine Kimmel
Hi Lorraine!
I’ve only done double width blankets in wool, but you will love it. I’m thinking of making a beach towel at some point in cotton, so I’m curious about this, too. Have fun!
I am doing a blanket in doubleweave with 2/8 cotton at 12 epi x 2. It is fairly ‘gauzy’ on the loom but I plan to wash it in hot water hoping it will shrink to a nice drape. I think 4/8 would be just fine. What is it going to be used for? Looking forward to seeing your results.
I used 1 to 4 for the bottom and 5 to 8 for the top on 8 shaft loom. Oh it is a waffle weave.
I've never tried waffle weave but it's on my list (one of many!). Mine is going to be a lap blanket just so I can get some experience. Good to hear you're using 2/8 at 12 epi. I'm wondering if maybe I should open up my sett a bit. I guess the worse that could happen is that it isn't what I envisioned but I'll have learned something. Good luck with your waffle weave.
Lorraineakimmel. I think your sett with 4/8 should be good at 12 epi.
Check out Jane’s master set chart.
And do a sample😁
