I have heard that it is unwise to weave a project that spans the width of the reed. I would like to make the Huck Towels in the kit, but my loom width (Baby Wolf) is only 1/2 inch larger than towel dimensions in reed. Are there any tips for dealing with this situation? I realize I could remove a whole column of the Huck blocks, but I like the proportions of the design as is. Thank you!
Which project are you thinking of weaving? Could you remove a thread or two from each plain weave section? I leave at least a half inch from each side of my warping width. eg for my 23" loom, I weave a max of 22". This is trial and error and experience. On my sectional warp beam floor loom, no problem warping the entire width. For my experience, it's not the width in the reed, it's the width on the back beam.
I discovered it's not so much the reed as haven too many extra heddles at the side. removing those helps a lot to keep the warp straight.
I starting weaving the Rustic Elegance towels today and I am working on the the first towel. I have a question about the instructions for the first towel and wondering if someone can help me. I do not understand what the "2" stands for when you get to half the towel and you "Switch at Centre". Is it supposed to read "2 picks" of something "A" or "B" or "2 Picks of tabby?
Tricia, When you weave the 1st half of your towel, you are alternating the A&B blocks using only the Gun Metal Grey color as the weft.
When you get to the center of your towel, you're still alternating the A&B blocks, but you should switch the weft color to using only the Light Stone Grey to weave the 2nd half of your towel.

Thank you Cheryl, but I think you are referring to one of the other towels, perhaps towel #2. Towel #1 uses alternating Gun Metal Grey and Light Stone Grey for the first half and Light Stone Grey and Gun Metal Grey for the second half.
At the switch (half way through the towel at the centre) you do something ("2 Light Stone Grey") then back to alternating Light Stone Grey and Gun Metal Grey. The "2" is what is confusing to me.
Sorry Tricia...the 2 made me think Towel #2.
On towel #1 you are Alternating A blocks and B blocks using Gun metal as your tabby picks, and Light Grey as your float picks. At the center switch you will be finishing up with Tabby (gun metal), Float (Light Grey), Tabby (gun metal), Float (Light Grey), Tabby (Gun Metal), Other Tabby (Light Grey), Tabby (Light Grey) Float (Gun Metal), Tabby (Light Grey), Float (Gun Metal)...and continue on using light grey as tabby and gun metal as float picks.
You are throwing 2 picks in a row using the same color in order to change where the colors fall in the sequence.
