It's mid-summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the weather has been hot! Maybe those of you in the Southern Hemisphere can send us cool vibes as you share what you have been weaving in a cooler climate ;-)
Yes, please send some cool weather. And rain, please! 😂
I’m getting ready for a Double Rainbow Sampler Class with Jennifer Moore in August. Unfortunately, I have threading errors and am not quire ready! 😩

I always have threading error to correct, and sometimes I have to re-sley too. How about a show and tell of your class?
Deb Oliff and I are taking this class together, we're using slightly different colors.

how did the class turn out for you? Were you in Utah for Intermountain?
see reply at end of this thread
Just got this off the loom this morning. My first try at denting. It's now hanging dry.
I used Bambu 12 for weft. More slippery than cotton but I like the shine and drape of Bambu :)
I'm not sure if I know how to post a photo here. Crossing my fingers.

Ohh I wonder if I could make it smaller. It's so big...
Beautiful
Great job!
Very nice Leila...so delicate and lovely.
Thank you Cheryl!
Looking forward to seeing your double rainbow project photo :)
Well, this is the first time I actually dressed my loom for one of Jane's drafts, other than Inspiration from a Sari a few years ago. I really like how Jane designed this alternate threading for Season 7.

added a bit of cerise to the dark, dark, dark light towel.

Hey Kit...our Double Weave Double Rainbow class doesn't start till next Thursday. Will run for sessions over two weeks..I'm sure we'll have photos to post as we progress !!
Also, we're doing the class online with Zoom sessions.
thanks Cheryl, can't wait to see your results from the class.
I'm in the midst of two projects. This one "Magenta Madness" is challenging and complex in it's yarn colors and threading. We'll see how this goes. I'm thinking of changing it up after cutting off the first 2 yards, washing, drying and evaluating.

It's sort of a threading gamp of turned twill in 5 sections.
There is a lot going on here. I was relieved to read that you were thinking of this as a gamp. Your designs are usually so clean! I'm with Cheryl. Thank you so much for sharing your thought process. I came to this school to learn about design and am getting so many bonus lessons from you weavers ahead of me who are willing to take the time to share your processes. Thank you all.
I'm not liking the thin white at the selvedges. I may delete them.

I agree. Not that it matters what I think. 😂
I am gonna cut off about 2 yards, delete the outside white warps, re-thread the far left sequence (it's just too much of a good thing.). Thanks for feedback Deb.
I re-worked the draft, and since there is so much going on in the warp, I decided to simplify the weft. I'm new to fabric weaving and am thinking of Jane's division of space lessons. In this case, division of space in 5, like her draft for season 5 and 6. this is not an example of a towel, instead I like to sample weft sequences and then use my favorites to complete a whole towel. (which is hard for me because I am so excited at the loom to try it all. This is a 12 yard warp.

Love that, Kit! And good idea to sample that way. I’m terrible at sampling. I want whatever I am weaving to “be” something. 🙄😂
Kit, your thoughtful progress is awesome!!
I've been enamored and obsessed with turned twill, since season 5. so far, it's my favorite structure. I'm new to 8H weaving and I love the possibilities of it. Your colors are stunning.
Hi Kit. Your fiberworks draft and projects on the loom look great. Magenta is one of my favourite colours. I'm new to weaving, but I can imagine weaving many more turned twill in the future. Mixing colours and playing at the loom is so much fun!
