Jane, I am weaving your Monte Cristo Baby Blanket on my large Macomber loom. I have always been used to getting generous amounts of yarn in your sample kits so I didn't take time to do the yarn calculations when I put the warp oarn. Mnds of yn my loom. Your draft calls for 2 1/2 yards. I put 3 yards on and allowed at least 1 yard for the waste. I'm not sure I'm going to have enough yarn left for the weft. Doing the the calculations, your blanket took 822 yards of yarn.. Measuring what was left on the cone, I have less then 300 yards for the weft. I'm not sure that will be enough. I do have a large cone of a cotton/rayon blend that is very similar in color and weight. Would I be better off using the cotton/rayon bland exclusively for the weft? Because of the rayon though it has a shiny appearance but I'm thinking the warp would help tone that down.
Thanks, Diane
I’m sorry you are having this problem, Diane. JST always allows for shrinkage and loom loss when calculating the yardage required for a kit. You may be able to squeeze another slightly shorter blanket out of the warp. My calculations have you needing more than you have for the weft. I’ve never woven with rayon, so I can’t comment on it. However, you could combine it with the Monte Cristo you have left and weave a 2 shuttle blanket, alternating the 2 yarns. Or - order another cone of Monte Cristo to weave off the balance of your warp in a shorter blanket.
Thanks Sandra, I went ahead and ordered more of the Monte Cristo cotton. I can always use it.

The blanket turned out beautifully and the baby seems to like it. Thank you! Diane
Adorable photo of baby and blanket and lovely work! Thank you for sharing!
Diane, the blanket turned out beautifully...but that precious baby steals the show !!
Gorgeous! I’ve had a cone of Monte Cristo looking at me for about a year. Kind of wish I purchased 2 so I could do a double width blanket. Looks so cozy in your photos!
