I loved watching this episode and couldn’t wait to get started. I think the coral and green may be a bit too close in value but I’m quite pleased with the effect.

Its a quiet beauty!!!
OK! I really like Halvdrall and I was gifted the Adriana Funk Halvdrall towel kit. I watched Jane's videos on H and noticed that she does not weave her towels with 2 different yarns as I have seen in the H towels others are making when I searched. So, I get that she is introducing the pattern but I am confused about her not using two different yarns for the tabby and the pattern. Sooooo, when I started weaving the towels from the kit I got I used the same yarn as shown in Jane's videos. Wove all tabby and weft using Duet. But, I realized that what I was actually supposed to be doing is using the 8/2 as tabby and the Duet as pattern, I think. I was noting the towels seemed to be very dense and it dawned on me to do a little more digging on how I was weaving them and so I changed to using 8/2 as tabby and Duet as pattern. Am I missing something here? Just confused! Love the towels Jane made and will probably use up my 8/2 stash up doing some more towels. Please unconfused me! :-)
I think part of the "problem" might be that each pattern is created by different weavers. Just like most things we focus on in our lives - we develop our own style of writing our patterns and weaving the cloth. I'm wondering if this might be the case here. I'm wondering if you wove the sample in the Halvdrall episode - whether or not you would gain a more basic understanding of the structure. Then would Adrianna Funk's pattern make more sense to you? I'm thinking of the way the weavers before us and around the world - created their patterns using different ways of recording their notes. I'm hoping someone else might have a better idea.
Thanks so much for the reply. I understand the pattern, just was confused on why Jane used the same yarn for the tabby and the pattern while the others I have seen on videos say to use two different yarns for each, like in overshot. It still weaves up pretty either way! :-) Will certainly be weaving more Halvdrall. It is a beautiful weave.
