When opening up your sett say from 18epi/18ppi to 16/16 or 12/12, how do you keep from packing your weft in too tightly? I am barely kissing my weft with my beater and conscientiously watching my negative space but still getting too many picks per inch (for a balanced fabric). Any tips are appreciated!
I would also add that the “feel” is different for every project. As Barbara says, take your time as you begin weaving until you get consistent. My first experience weaving deflected doubleweave in Tencel on a Jack loom (with which I was not familiar - beater liked to fall toward the fell) was super challenging. I had to place each pick. To be honest, I never felt like I got a feel for it, but the scarf came out nicely 😊
