Hello everyone - I am weaving a 2/2 twill tea towel in 8/2 cotton set at 20 EPI. I am noticing that I have to beat it pretty hard to get perfect 45 angle diagonal lines on the twill, but when I do that the PPI is higher than 20 PPI. If I beat more gently (firm but more comfortable), I get a perfect 20 PPI, but my diagonal lines are bigger than 45 degrees. This is the first time that I have struggled with this issue - usually I get perfect 45 diagonal lines when the sett is balanced. This is my first time weaving 2/2 twill in 8/2 cotton.
My questions are: should you always expect 45 degree diagonal lines with a balanced sett? If not then what is more important - the angle or the sett?
I am wondering if I screwed up the sett on these towels but that seems impossible to me. They are dented 2 per dent in a 10 epi reed. Not much can go wrong there!
