Skills vs Satisfaction

I am continuing to press on, learning new weave structures and techniques, with new fibers and yarns and all, but i have to confess, I think i could have a complete and satisfying weaving existence if i just spent the rest of my days turning out Boucle tea towels. They are so satisfying to use, and everyone I give them to is so happy.

I go back and forth. I love the flow of just weaving but then I get so anxious to learn the next lesson because I love how it’s been building on each season.

As for giftees not using their towel, I say use it or lose it or at least use it as a bath hand towel if you’re a messy cook like me.

I can’t remember where I read this but someone mentioned using their towels as a placemat.

I totally get that, John. But do you ever have the giftee tell you they are too pretty to use? 🤣 I always tell them not to be afraid or baby them. They are easy to launder.

Yes indeed! My own mother refuses to use hers for that reason. Sadly, there is no changing her mind.

I don't know why, but until recently I hadn’t thought of using tea/kitchen towels in the bathroom as hand towels. They are perfect for that and add a bright pop of color. And you’re right, they can be placemats, too. So versatile.

I only just decided to use a set of towels as hand towels since I wove them with some pricey to me yarn from Gist.

I wasn’t ready to see them splotched with stains or burnt from being too close to the burner;)
