Curious, not including time watching the episodes, do you schedule specific amounts of time to weave like writers are encouraged to do? Write even if it’s drivel or even when you don’t feel it?
I'm retired...so no need to "schedule" weaving time. I do something weaving related most every day. Sometimes 30 minutes. Sometimes, like yesterday, for 4 hours.
Thanks Cheryl, I've recently retired and I like your schedule format suggestion. I am most productive and energetic in the morning. So I have sort of settled into a routine of quick house work when I'm the most energetic, cause I don't really like house work. Then I feel like I have some free time in the mid morning for weaving. But, I'm not that methodical and find I squander some time. Of course there are other commitments like spending time with friends, family, TV, errands, workouts, etc. I'm working on a healthy balance of squander and accomplishments, lol....still working on it!
I like that, healthy balance of squander.
I've been wondering how to squeeze everything in. But, like Cheryl, maybe just trying to weave when I can, would be better.
I do find that weaving is like mindful meditation for me. Once I start to drift and think about anything other than the weaving or the warping, I make a mistake.
I really appreciate this community of weavers/posters and the Jane team for providing the learning space. Thank you!
I’m retired, too and don’t schedule. If there’s a warp on the loom, I am usually pretty anxious to weave on it whenever possible. Right now my loom is naked and crying to be dressed. 🤣 I usually have several warps chained and ready to go, but at the moment I’m about to experiment with some alpaca on a scarf but I’m waiting for some more yarn to go with it, so, no weaving right now.
Such a good idea! Having backup warps...I'm going to try that. I usually walk first thing in the morning, then menial house chores, and then I'll weave or knit till someone interrupts me;)
No such thing as a backup warp when you have a sectional warp beam =:)
