I just beamed the warp for 6.9 Block Analysis 8shaft bronson lace. First time I did such a long warp.
One thread has broken, I found it lying on the floor. I can see the orphaned thread on the lease sticks, it is around thread thirty in the first lace section. I do have a spare thread in the outermost section where it asks for 21 threads and I did 22.
What is the best way to deal with this. Could I just use this spare thread and do as if nothing happened? Seems too nice to be true...
Thanks for advice!
Well, I thought about it. If it was just a single colour warp, I wouldn't mind doing this and those two single grey zingers won't make a big difference.
So I get the idea to do intentionally spare warp threads in the future as back up. How many places can a thread jump in the warp in order to replace a broken one if there are larger sections of a different colour to overcome?
Depends certainely of sett and so one , but as a rule of thumb?
Hi Catherine, I would use a new thread, wound on a cone or other method and hang it from the back of your loom. That way you can keep an eye on it as it moves up to join the other threads going through your heddle and into your cloth. Using a spare one already in your warp will always be tensioned differently because it has to move across the warp beam and into a new location. Make sense?
Thank you Sandra, makes sense.
No backup threads for the future. What a pity, would feel reassuring.☺️
