I'm doing a double width project (from the kit) and my tension is so tight on the end where the fold is. I don't notice it until I have to wind the warp and then the next few throws are too tight and then it balances again and is nicely even for the next 6 inches or so and then next time I wind on it happens again...sigh
I would try weaving with a higher angle in the weft so more feeds into the shed and perhaps try a tad less tension on the warp.
