I am planning to weave a reproduction of an historical overshot coverlet. Since my friend is allergic to wool, I plan to use 16\2 cotton for warp and tabby and 8/2 cotton for weft. Will it be better to weave at 24 epi/ppi for warp and tabby. Since I am striving to reproduce the coverlet, I want to make sure I keep a very balanced weave.
I think that is a good sett to start with. Traditional coverlets are dense so that is a great place to start. I would do a sample first. Sampling gives you so much information and this sounds like an important project worth the sampling. Hope this helps.
