Hi Jane and Staff,
1) Have you all thought about publishing a book on all the wonderful information that you have provided in these seasons and episodes?
2) I’m hoping you all have enough energy to do season seven, with that said. I would love (and maybe some other weavers) an episode on The Bateman Weaves. What do you think? 🤗
Thank you all so much, I can’t even tell you how much of an impact you have made in my weaving journey. I’m so grateful.
Jane replied on another thread that Season 7 will complete the 4-harness exploration, and the following season will be for "more than 4 harnesses" !!
Hi Natalie,
I feel like I write a monograph for every episode :).....I wouldn't know what to put in a book, there could be a book for every season. Not sure I'll live long enough to do all that. LOL. BUT....you are in luck if you are interested in the Bateman weaves. There is a fabulous book called Weaving Innovations from the Bateman collection. by Robyn Spady, Nancy Tracy and Marjorie Fiddler that explains Dr. Bateman's extensions of unit weaves. They did an amazing job on that book. There are some lovely samples for 4 shafts. Most are for 8 and up. The theory is well presented. One thing of note in regards to many of his more complex structures is the need for a lot of treadles. You could weave them on a table loom with a lot of different manipulations or a dobby loom. The book is published by Schiffer Publishing and well worth the purchase :) I hope this helps.
