Hi, I’m curious to try my hand at collapse weave. Jane talked about it some in Episode 3.6.1 and around the 5 minute mark she mentioned using 1/3 and 3/1 twill. She said the sett would be a bit different and that she would talk about it in more detail when she got to turned twills. However, I’ve watched the video on turned twills and didn’t see any reference to collapse weave there. So…my question is, should the the sett be denser or looser than usual if trying for vertical pleats? I was thinking of using Bambi 12 for the warp (with narrow twill stripes) and a very fine elasticized cotton for the weft. Any advice?
Hi Diana,
We've not gotten around to it yet because we've been doing so many other things.....oh my goodness, there is so much to do :)
I would sett it around 28-30 epi.....but I would also sample its success before plunging in on a whole project. I would weave 8", take it off, wash it and review. I would also not make my unit repeats more than 3, so 1234 x 3, 5678 x 3. Let us know how you make out :)
Have fun. Jane
