Hello!
I am weaving a Dropdrall towel in 16/2 Cottolin. I’ve never used it before, so I’m not sure if the problems I’m having are usual for this yarn.
The yarn has multiple areas that are kinked in a way that a part of it twists onto itself and protrudes out about a 1/4”. These have led to weak areas in the warp, and I’ve had several warp threads break. Is this usual for Cottolin, or did I just get a bad spool?
Other than that, I absolutely love working with this fiber combination, especially in the finer weight!
Thank you for your input!
Liza
I love cottolin as well but have only used the weight JST carries - which is 22/2 organic cottolin. It's my go-to for tea towels and I love it as warp in scarves. I'd never heard of the problems you are having with the cottolin you are using - so, I searched and found this comment in the product description on one site - "16/2 cottolin yarn is recommended for weft only". Hopefully, someone who has used this cottolin will be able to add to my answer.
Thanks, Sandra. It hasn’t been problematic aside from those over twisted areas. It makes me wonder if it was a defective spool.
