Hi, folks --
I've posted this question on Ravelry, too, but hoping someone here can help me.
1. I’m about to warp for the Twill & Grace placemats kit, and I’ve got a question about the tie-up. I’m weaving on a Le Clerc Fanny (a counterbalance, and therefore sinking shed loom). Is the tie-up in the project notes for a sinking or rising shed?
I should probably be able to tell by looking, but I’d rather ask the experts!
2. The full threading draft in the instructions shows 7 repeats of 15 3-end units, for a total of 7X15X3= 315 ends + 2 floating selvedges, for a total of 317 ends. But the pattern says to wind 299 ends -- 297 in the pattern and 2 floating selvedges. That’s a difference of 18 pattern ends. What am I missing?
Ha! figured it out. the last 3 ends are the framing ends, so it's really 14X7X3, plus those last 3 ends, for a total of 294 + 3 = 297. Add the floating selvedge and Bob's your uncle!
Hi Rebecca - it looks like you are about to have some fun ;-) In answer to your question #1 - here's a quote from Jane taken from the Knowledge Base article "Rising Shed - Sinking Shed - which tie-up do I use?"
"We generally write our patterns for sinking shed looms. If it is really important I will state it in the pattern just so everyone knows. If I don’t write it in a pattern it is because it really doesn’t matter." Hope this helps.
