Hello jane
I'm really a new weaver from Israel (I think I'm probably the only one.. :-) )
moved from a frame loom rapidly to rigid heddle and then to an 8 shaft table loom.
I learn a lot about weaving from you' but even more' I learn about teaching!! You Are GREAT!!!
My question is this:
Does loom tension effect the PPI?
(I know set is the most important factor!)
Looking forward for your next episodes
Thank you
Alon Ophir
Hello Alon, We do have another weaver in Israel. :). You’re not the only one. :) :) :)
Yes, loom tension does effect PPI. If you have a lot of tension on the warp it is harder for the weft to pack in. So sett is not the only factor. You could play around with that. Try reducing your tension a bit, just a notch or two on the ratchet at the front and see if you can get more PPI. You only need enough tension on the warp to keep the sheds clean and to support the shuttle. Hope this helps, Cheers, Jane
It helped me a lot!!!!
Thank you
