If I may be nosy, Jane, how tall are you? Watching the videos of you weaving on the Spring would give me a sense of how tight a fit it would be for me. I'm 5'8" (172 cm).
I have a Schacht Baby Wolf (26" weaving width), which feels short to me, even with the height extensions. I lift the shafts with books and lower the bench height to warp the heddles and reed, which works well enough. I'd like more weaving width, but only have the floor space for a 36" max.
I like counterbalance better than jack. I have never used a countermarche loom, but it seems like a good match for what I want. I realize they are more complex, but I have a brain and am willing to use it on understanding this.
I'm seriously considering the Louet Spring and would appreciate any feedback anyone has on it. It looks well built. Given that one can press one treadle at a time, would it be better to go with 12 shafts?
