Hi everyone.
I've been happily weaving away on my Ashford Table Loom since last November. I'm in the middle of weaving a baby blanket that I saw in the most recent Weft magazine.
The pattern calls for 8/2 cotton for warp and tabby pick, and doubled 8/2 cotton for the pattern.
The sett is 16 ep. The PPI in the pattern is 16 ppi for the tabby and 16ppi for the pattern. However, I'm only getting 12-13 PPI at most. I'm beating as hard as I can without damaging my loom. I slacked off the tension and got close to 14ppi, but no more.
I'm wondering if this is the closest it is possible to get to the correct PPI on a table loom, given that it is lighter than a floor loom? Or if there is anything else I should try? The pattern recommends using a temple, which I don't own, but I don't know if a temple would make much difference, as I don't tend to get a huge amount of draw in when I weave, and beat on an open shed.

Hi Ginette. Thanks for the reply. I eventually just made my piece with 13-14 PPI. I still got a nice blanket out of it. The pattern is oval rather than circle, but it doesn't bother me. I've decided to go all the way back to basics, and am now weaving the Monk's Belt Placemats from season 6, and am on track with PPI for that project.

Just to say, the amount of content in the weaving school is staggering, and the quality of the content is fantastic. I'm having a great time working through it. I live in Ireland where the weaving community is small, so it's hard to find lessons/retreats etc. The online weaving school has been a fantastic resource so a massive thank you to you and the team.
