I have a 16 shaft Ashford table loom. I worked quite happily warping it up without using a raddle for a few years. I did, however, have to organise myself in different ways to compensate for the lack of the raddle.
Since then, Lofty Fibre, put out a raddle for this Ashford loom, which I use happily and now would never be without.
I do not use a raddle cross. Maybe because it complicates things a wee bit for me. But I do tend to be organised so that I have never felt the need for a raddle cross. I find it is easy enough to do things without this stage included.
I just use the standard cross for the lease sticks.
I am aware that if you are organising a very long warp then, it is suggested by a few of the older authors that I have read, a raddle cross can help speed up the process and prevent some tangles between bundles of warp.

Diane, thanks for the tip about the Lofty Fibres raddle for the Ashford Table Loom.I was very frustrated when I put my last warp on the loom after a long time without weaving on it. I don't usually use a raddle cross so did not this time and found it very difficult to manage the warp. I have an 8 shaft 16" loom. I will let you know how it works. Di

Those squiggly lines are the direction of the huck lace floats and how they will appear when you are weaving them. When you weave Lace in A for the second scarf, all the A units you threaded will appear like this || and all the threaded B units floats will be in this direction =.
What colours are you playing with for this pattern?

Thanks for the explanation. I was hoping to use Freya in teal, peacock & seaweed, but I see the lines going through these colours, so assume I will have to wait until another order comes in?

The colours we carry at the moment are Ebony, Pewter, Steel, Marine Blue, Iris, Royal Blue, Vanilla & Suede. More colours will be in the works for the future.
