Since I started using my Louet vertical warping mill I’ve noticed that my warps are not a consistent length. Some areas are longer than others. I’ve attached photos to show what I mean. I am very careful not to let warp ends stack, keeping them side by side as I use the mill, as Jane shows in the video. I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong or is this just the way the mills works? I didn’t experience this with my warping board. Thankfully it works out in the end by trimming them to the same length, but I do think it’s something I should change! I’m appreciative of any thoughts or experience.

I often have that issue especially when winding more than one bout for the same project. (I can’t seem to get even tension when dressing the loom if it’s a wide warp and one chain)

Sometimes, I feel that I do not maintain the same tension from beginning to end.

Sometimes the yarn has more stretch.

Other times, I think I will tape down the guiding thread in spots because it does float about as I chain. I haven’t done this yet but I think I will next time.

Also, the longer the warp, the more issues I have. I’ve been limiting myself to six yards or less if it’s linen or a sticky yarn.

I tell myself it’s only yarn and go look for chocolate.

Thanks Nato, it is perplexing. I had three ends of 40/2 linen, but I've experienced this with 8/2 cotton as well. At least it turns out in the end!
