I love double weave! The fact I can make a bigger cloth on my loom is just awesome. So I have been using 3/2 mercerized cotton on my 8/2 cotton projects. But now I’m ready to graduate making a Harrisville Shetland blanket. Do I use the same thickness on 3/2 mercerized cotton on Harrisville Shetland because that is my warp, or do I use a thicker yarn to take up space where I have 2 threads at my join? I am hoping that this makes sense …

If you end up with a double thread on the fold side and you want to replace one of the Harrisville threads, you can use some of your 3/2 cotton you have on hand. This is what Jane used for the Loden/Seagreen/grass..warp where she's weaving the first sampler in episode 7. I haven't tried fishing line to replace the thread so can't recommend a size but, I'd try the 3/2 cotton first.
Jane also left an empty dent before the last two warp threads to help space them out. I actually have a double width warp on my loom right now and what I did was thread the last two 1 per dent without leaving an empty dent (my warp epi for double is also 16 epi like the Harrisville. You could try that as well.
I really enjoy double weave as well! I find it so fascinating :)
