Hi, I was warping in groups of 20 and for some reason spaced out and wound only 61 instead of 81 in my Mountain View Huck towels!! I realized my mistake threading the heddles, so I made a “baby” warp of the missing 20 ends, threaded them on their heddles and tied them on. I weighted them on their back of the loom.

I’m getting a frowning fell line where they are no matter if I try more or less tension. It’s even there without tension. Is there something I’m doing wrong or is there a remedy? I’m so irritated with myself for falling asleep at the warping mill!!
Thank you for any help, I’ve wanted to weave these towels for a long time and want them to be as beautiful as they deserve!

I wove the first towel, then cut the warp to re-tie it to the apron rod. There was a boggy section next to the little warp as well. Unfortunately I didn't unweight the bundle when I cut it and *thud* it fell loosing my cross. Well, I'm learning a lot the hard way! Ha! Sometimes you just need to step away!
I hope loosing the cross won't make it too tangly later. I thought I'd separate the mini-wrap into 2 bundles of 10 instead of 20. It might be easier to wind around the empty cones for tensioning. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks so much.

You should be fine regarding loosing the cross for the tiny warp when it fell off right out of the heddles. The threads are side by side and all within an inch'ish. You might have to unwind the small warp from the cones more frequently but other than that you should be all good. Is your fell line straight now?

Thank you for checking in Ginette. I am still getting a frown at the fell line where the mini warp is. It was fine at first after cut the warp and tied back on but now is misbehaving. I wish I understood the physics here, but I don’t seem to be able to figure it out. Oddly, the last thread in the min warp is looser than the rest.

I probably don't have a "correct" answer to your issue. But your comment about one thread being looser than the rest made we think....what if you divided your mini-warp into 4 sections (5 threads each)? Then weight each of those sections separately, instead of weighting all 20 threads as one group. You might get more consistent tension. Just a thought!

Thanks for the reply Kerry, I persisted through this warp and surprisingly it all turned out okay once washed and pressed. I think your idea of dividing that mini-warp into smaller groups is an excellent idea and if/when I end up in a predicament like this again I’ll try that out.
