I am working on a summer and winter draft, with tabby and tie-downs, on my Spring I. Have set up a skeleton tie-up which was a new thing to learn as a possibility on a counter march. Yes, it works.
The issue is that when I weave the first tie-down the treadle stays flat to the floor and the shaft does not drop. When I go to treadle the next combination of a tie-down and pattern shot (two treadles, two feet), the tie-down 2 and a pattern shot) the shaft from tie-down one does not drop. I have to push it down. This is really tedious considering that I'm weaving alternating tabby, alternating tie-down threads and keeping up with pattern thread changes.
I know people always tell Spring weavers it does not matter if the shaft doesn't fall when you take your foot off the treadle. Here it DOES matter.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gerri
