Hello more experienced weavers than I,

I had the great chance to get an older Macomber CP11. I cleaned her up and lubricated her where needed. She came with three reeds. A couple of them seem a bit rusty. Can anyone please give me advice on how to clean them and protect them from re-rusting? Thank you, so much

An old fashioned rust remover, is simple ketchup. The acid in the tomato works to dissolve rust. You could try it on a small part of the reed. It works great on tarnished silver also. Just apply a layer of ketchup (again, do a small test spot); leave on for about 15 minutes, then scrub with a brush, or even wadded up aluminum foil.

I recently gave a friend's loom that I had borrowed a "spa day" and ketchup did the trick for me. The reed was mildly rusted.
