I am planning a DDW scarf project and really want to use some of my Zephyr (REALLY looking forward to the release of the JST silk-merino product!!!). The contrasting color I want to use is 100% Merino. They are both 18/2.
My question is whether there are significant concerns with using these two fibers in the same warp? They will also both be used in the weft. Would the Merino buckle/shrink that much more than the Zephyr?

Only my thoughts; I would think they would full at differing amounts due to the fiber content in the yarns. I haven't experienced Zephyr yet, though I did buy a bunch when Jagger Bro went out of business. Looking forward to using it. Oh, and you can always do what I hate to think about and that is sample! LOL
Oh yes, sampling đ I just hate the idea of warping up the project, doing the sampling and finding out it wonât work! Was just sort of hoping someone may have used the two fibers together for something. While I canât sample a DDW project easily I can at least do something with the two fibers together to check that shrinkage. Thanks for the idea!
I agree with Barbara. I havenât done a DDW project so I donât know how much fulling is required, but the Zephyr will likely be slower to full because of the silk. I wove a collapsed weave scarf using Zephyr. I used two different colours of it in the warp and they fulled at different rates from each other!
Handwoven magazine had a recent article where the weaver sampled âzephira.â Revolution fibers version of zephyr.
It could be a possible alternative for you until JST releases its version.
Downside. I think Zephira came in 1lb increments.
