I have desperately been looking for some Zephyr but can't get it here. All available silk/wool combinations are much thicker. What I could get ist 20/2 Tussah silk and 30/2 Merino.
I also could get a double stand to twist 2 threads together.
No idea how that yarn would turn out and if it could be a substitute for Zephyr or just a waste of money.
Does anybody use a doubling stand and has done something like this before?

I would like to make the overshot scarfs of season 6. My other idea would be to take the tussah as pattern weft and merino as tabby but I don't know if there has to be some wool in the pattern weft to full and fix it or if it could work when merino is the tabby.

I know that Halcyon has it. Blend of merino and silk, not sure if it is the same thickness you are looking for but I have used it and it is close to an 8/2 cotton .

You could use the merino only version of jagger or a laceweight equivalent.

Or maybe try a sample with 2/16 and 8/2 cotton? Or linen? I’m think about the different combos we’ve done in the past.
That zephyr is a lace weight 2ply.

Are you unable to get the jagger zephyr because you are overseas?

Weaving yarn in wool is quite difficult to find. My 30/2 Merino is nice and soft but I can't find a comparable quality in around 18/2. What I can get is or much scratchier or much thicker /knitting yarn.

I will give this doubling stand a try. If it works I will have much more options as now.
Makes sense nobody uses one at your place as you have so many differnt qualities to choose.
