Best next reed?

I am a new weaver and my loom came with a 12 dent reed. I'm thinking I'd like to expand my reed collection - what's the next best denting to buy?

Hi Miriam, I think a 10 is great or maybe an 8….or maybe both, LOL. With those 3 reeds I can do anything…….almost, I still like a 6 for mohair. Hope this helps a little bit. :)

Mine came with a 10 and I also ordered a 6 at the same time. Then I decided I needed a 12 and finally broke down and got an 8. I think I am finally satisfied. I liked using the 6 for 18 epi because it was an easy to do 3/dent. They aren't cheap, but I think they are worth it to have a good variety.
