Was I supposed to add a floating selvedge to the warp when weaving the "Undulating Twill" tea towel kit from Jane's Kits? I am on my third towel, the kit weaves eight towels, and I did not include a floating selvedge in my warp or before I starting weaving. I am not sure if I like the somewhat scalloped look, that appears when you do not use a floating selvedge. Will the selvedge be stronger, hold up better after multiple washings if I add a floating selvedge to the warp for the rest of the towels? What are the experienced thoughts on using or not using floating selvedges with twills?

Another question about the undulating twill tea towel kit. In the instructions you mention the possibility of weaving the towel in a “check by following the warping color sequence.” I cannot seem to get a “check” like in a checker board, for the life of me. What am I missing?

Yes, I just finished one of the towels, which I used black and white weft colors to weave 2 inch alternating black and white stripes.

I think that perhaps I am confused with this is because I have a countermarch loom and so I may have to do something like raise certain treadles to raise my warp when I want to weave a check and then use other treadles when I want to raise my weft in order to weave a different check? I am brand new to countermarch weaving and fairly new to weaving, in general, so this idea just popped into my head. Does it make any sense at all??
I am also playing around with different treadling in a weaving program, and cannot get the checks, unless I change the tie up. Am I supposed to change the tie up, which I can do but a bit time consuming on a countermarch loom.

Okay, I apologize for the questions and confusion. I just put the 8 picks of black and 11 picks of white into the weaving program , where I have the draft from the pattern already set up, and I kind of see the checks, not a checkerboard effect, which is what I was looking to weave, but there are checks.
