I have a question re: the substitution chart and sleying
Let’s say, based on reed and sett that you need to sley 1,2

What do you do if you end with a 2 but you still have 2 ends and a floating selvedge to sley. Do you finish 1, 1 & float?
1, 1, float? Or throw the last 2 together and the float in its own dent? I hope this makes sense.

It’s not going to make a huge difference because you are at the edge. You can put the last 2 in the same dent and give your floating selvedge a dent of it’s own.

Thank you Sandra! This has happened to me many times and I finally got around to asking. I wasn't sure if it would also effect the selvedge on that side or if it's the fact that my left side is never as tidy as my right.

I’d love to meet a weaver who always has absolutely perfect selvedges on both sides of their cloth! One hand that you use to throw your pick is predominant and the other just hasn’t been asked to do equal work until you sat at the loom ;-)
