I have just watched Episode seven on Bronson lace. If I use my sinking shed loom & change the tie up to rising, (I do know how to make that change) do I then use the LEFT tabby when starting to weave, rather than the right, as Jane mentioned.

Bronson lace sweetheart is on my David 3 loom. The pattern gives a rising shed tie-up and so I have tied up the empty spaces on my David as it is a sinking shed - I think, though now can't trust myself! When I try to plain weave, pressing on treadle 2 also brings down shaft 1 - it seems this is because all of the other treadles are tied up to shaft 1 and so pull it down. I tried switching so that only shaft 2 is tied up to treadle 1 and treadle 2 has all but shaft 2 and this seems to work but that messes up the treading order. what crazy error am I making please?

Hi Penny,
You aren’t doing anything wrong….it is just the way the loom functions. Try adding a little more tension to the first Spring…ie shorten the texsolv cord in the castle by a few holes and I bet it will be much better. Let us know how you make out.

Shortened tension a fair few holes and "kerching!" Shed restored. Thank you Jane. So much to learn but enjoying the journey.

Just checking, for sinking shed looms like he David 2 do I always tie up the blank boxes on the tie up. About to try the sequins in pockets project and I want to check that before I get going please.

Hi Fiona, If the pattern says rising shed then you will always tie-up the blank boxes. Sometimes it doesn’t matter your pattern will just be on the reverse, but in this case it does. You won’t be able to put your sequins into the pockets if you used the numbered tie- up. This is a rising shed pattern…tie-up the empty boxes :)
