Arg.....I was just looking at the blocks to see if I had used the correct ones....I didn't look at the colour. DUH! The Fuchsia should be Chartreuse. Dang, Dang, Dang or even some juicier word. LOL.

Just finished this shawl in time for the next lesson. I used Zephyr in Natural, Peacock and Sea Blue. It wove up beautifully, and I especially love the borders I came up with. This yarn is so slippery that I had to watch my beat very carefully and still had some variations . I love it though!!

Does anyone else have trouble with the Zephyr yarns bleeding? I used the garnet colour and when I wet finished the water was bright red. I was glad the other colours were darker. On the jaggersun web site it has a special note to weavers that it bleeds and should just be dry cleaned.

Gwendolyn, My blues did bleed during wet finishing, but I find that is an issue with almost every blue wool yarn I buy. My main color was "Natural" and it stayed nice and creamy color without any transfer of the blue color.

I am uncertain how to read the drafts when I'm using 6 treadles, and changing tie - ups as needed. Please direct me to the instructions that will help me. I'd like to use my 4 harness/6 treadle jack loom. If I can get explicit instruction on tie-up and treadling sequence for towel #1, I'm sure it will make sense.

I am just working on the Deflected Doubleweave 8 shaft alpaca shawl and I think I might have misread the treadling instructions! For example the first part says:
C6 Marigold
B12 Chartreuse
x 13
A6 Marigold
etc.
I took this to mean treadling C for 6 SEQUENCES (i.e. C 1st treadle one pick, C 2nd treadle 1 pick - 6 times) so that would mean 12 picks, then
B for 12 sequences (i.e. B 1st treadle 1 pick, B 2nd treadle 1 pick -12 times) to equal 24 picks.
However I am only on the second repeat of the whole treadling and am just about at the total lenth (i.e. about 80"). There is no room for another whole sequence as the instructions state. So I am guessing I should have read the instructions as 6 PICKS of C, 12 PICKS of B etc.
Am I correct? If so, I will stop weaving this shawl after 2 repeats of the whole pattern - instead of 3.
Guess this first shawl is going to have extra big deflected doubleweave designs!

Thank Ginette - your answer is what I realized was probably the case. I should have re-watched the video again before starting. Oh well - it will be interesting to see how my shawl turns out with the motifs twice the size!

I love the look of DDW. I just made a scarf using the threading of the 8 shaft sampler in 2-16 wool from my stash. It is set at 18 epi which should be right, and it has a lovely hand, but I am not happy about the floats. I am sure they will get caught on earings, etc. None of the pictures I have seen have such messy looking floats. Is this a function of my set, or my yarn, or the pattern or a combination of these. Is it just what happens with DDW.
