Hey everyone! With November here, are you weaving for the holidays or planning handwoven gifts?
Share what's on your loom or your next weaving idea with us!
I also posted this on Ravelry:
I finished the Cozy and Casual scarves from a JST kit. First time using Eco Jeans (lovely hand and easy to weave with), and first time using Organic Cotton Cloud. I was worried that the Cotton Cloud would be delicate in the warp, but it was wonderful to weave with.
I did use a 6 dent reed so as to reduce abrasion.
It was a little fiddly for me to keep a consistent open beat while weaving…so much easier to just bang away with cotton dish towels etc.
The only change I’d make if I weave these again (and they are beautiful) would be to weave the Cotton Cloud picks as a separate piece of yarn with little fringes for each pick at the selvedges. I am concerned that the tucked ends might start working loose in this open weave structure.
After twisting the fringe, I washed these in my front load washer on delicate, and dried in the dryer on LOW for 15 minutes.
I wove one scarf using only the darker Eco Jeans in the weft, and the other scarf using only the lighter Eco Jeans in the weft. The pattern instructions called for rotating these two colors in both the warp and the weft and I didn’t feel like making that many color changes while throwing the shuttles. I had to use 3 as it was…one for 16/2 tabby weft, one for Cotton Cloud and one for Eco Jeans.

Beautiful Cheryl!
Beautiful pieces, I like them!
Beautiful, and thanks for posting your process with the Cotton Cloud.
I put a long warp on for overshot towels using someone else's design. Normally I do my own drafts, but on this occasion I used a draft purchased some time ago.
After the first two towels I was thoroughly 'over' (sick of) the overshot design, even though I had played with it in all sorts of ways.
So I went back to 'playing at the loom' as Jane calls it. (This, buy-the-way, is one of the prime reasons I appreciate participating JST School of Weaving).
I dove into playing on opposites, colour change ups, graphic repetitions and anything else I could think of.
The satisfaction was immediate and the result more pleasing to my eye.
Got one final towel to accomplish before cutting them off. Can't wait!
Thanks JST.
❤️
That's exciting! It's so much fun playing at the loom :)
Well, I just finished today. The object was to use up some of my overwhelming stash 'gifted' to me over the years. Also to do some much needed 'bobbin liberation'.
Can someone please tell me why, that at the end of the project, I managed to minimise my stash by what appears, by any measurement, miniscule.
Then, to add insult to profound injury, I had absolutely no empty bobbins at the end of the project.
Oh dear! What hope do I have ....
😂🤣
OMG been there, done that!
I'm still making tea towels in Turned Twill. I'm tempted to try a new structure soon. I really like how TT lets me weave "window panes".And this is the first warp on my, new to me, Norwood 8.

The navy blue weft is broken up by bands of light blue. This on will have fibonacci sequences of 5-3-2-1
beautiful!
