What are the experiences folks are having for paying tariffs on an order from Jane. What are they charging people?
I recently received an order, in the usual quick shipping that is so appreciated - followed a couple weeks later by a bill from UPS for $6. The order was a little over $100, if I remember correctly.
I'll still order from Jane - the quality and response time is worth it!
thanks
I ordered only one cone of mohair for which I paid about $32 including Canadian shipping. Today I received the charge from UPS for $17.44!. Ugh. Lesson learned to order in bulk only, but not sure.
That's horrible. Not sure about ordering anything. It seems to change and there is no rhyme or reason to it.
The tea I like is imported from Japan. The USA store just let me know that there are no more tariffs on their tea, beginning January 1st. Fingers crossed this may happen with yarns, etc..
A more recent experience…My order was a little over $100 and I just got a bill from UPS for $39. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason. But that percentage is crazy.
I just paid a $4 bill to UPS on an $85 order. The bill came about a week after the weaving kits.
I had a good size order to make, so called JST office to ask about tariffs. Gal said mohair and Venne yarns are tariffed, while regular yarns are not. Probably best to call and ask. I anticipate a UPS charge around $8 which is a different fee. Happy New Year of weaving to all!
Glad you called JST office Karen 🙂 It's the best place to go for all questions regarding possible tariffs on products that JST sells.
Everyone in the studio will be happy to help and answer questions.
Just a reminder for anyone that may have questions, you can email [email protected] or call 250-537-9468.
Just to follow up for those that are concerned about the tariffs. I did place a large order, over $300 and just got a UPS tariff charge of $31.80. While not happy about it, I will continue to order product from JST. The order is already on its way within one day of ordering. I've ordered from other sources and it often takes 1-2 weeks to arrive. Plus, most of the yarns I have are from JST and I love the silks and colors of cottons. Happy weaving!
