I’m making a rep runner using 8/2 unmercerized cotton for the warp and for the weft, the 8/2 for the thin and 8/16 unmercerized for the thick and to get the width I wanted, I ended up with over 900 ends. Because I've been warned that the 8/2 unmercerized cotton can be stickier than mercerized and because there are so many ends, I'm spreading the ends over 6 of the 8 shafts on my Spring 2 countermarch loom
But I'm stuck on the tie up for a 2 block 6 shaft rep weave.
Should I just use 2 treadles with 1,3,5 on one and 2,4,6 on the other or would it be better if I used more than the two treadles in which case, how would I do the tie-up?
I'm curious, what sett are you planning to use? And, just my personal experience with 8/2 cotton - I've used it as warp and/or weft for about 30 years and can't remember a time when 8/2 cotton shredded or let me down in any way.....
Morning Sandra,
Thanks so much for responding, and so quickly!
I’m using a sett of 48 epi. And I’m not worried about it shredding, but being sticky and, with such a close sett, having difficulty getting the shafts to rise as the threads find a way past one another and this of getting a clean shed.

I should have also have asked you what reed are you using - that could be an area where it might cause a problem....... You need your ends to move smoothly through the reed. I guess I'm concerned about you getting a good flow from your warp beam through your heddles and reed for the dense cloth you plan to weave. Have you checked Jane's Reed Substitution Chart to get the best reed to use for your epi?
