Hello! I am a new weaver currently working in Season 4, Twills. Before this I only had two treadles to think about and left, right, left, right was easy! I found treadling 1–2-3-4 as L, L, R, R a little awkward when doing my “beat-change-beater back” movement. I even tried crossing my left foot over my right to reach treadle 3!
I came across Walking the Treadles and changed my tie-up to (L) 1-3 (R) 2-4. I used the first 2:2 Sample to get my brain and body used to this and it felt natural.
I’d like to ask more experienced weavers what they do, and if this is advisable once I start weaving more complex cloth structures. I’m a clean slate as far as weaving goes and I’d hate to hard-wire something into my muscle memory that would get me in trouble later!! Thank you for your thoughts on this!
