I hate to ask this but my memory is failing today. I am weaving towels with 8/2 cotton. I want a twill weave. I have 424 ends, I thought IU could slay a 12 dent reed at 2 per dent but now the width is 17”. I have the reed substitution sheet but I don’t know how to figure this based on ends. Sorry for my confusion. Betty
I think I have found the answer. I think i need to thread the 12 dent reed 2-2-1?
Hello Betty- I think if you sley 424 ends in a 12 dent reed in a 2-2-1 sequence, that will give you 20 epi. Then, since 20 goes into 424 just over 21 times, that means the width of the warp in the reed would be just over 21 inches. Hope that’s of some help, but I am no expert, and maybe that’s not what you were asking about! Anyway, sometimes it’s good just to get a reply!
Thank you so much. I appreciate your response. Betty
