I have a friend who wants me to weave a throw in alpaca; she wants it to be 42 x 84. Is the alpaca strong enough for that size? I've made scarves but never anything this size. Thanks.

Hi Barbara. I have made two blankets with alpaca. The first was 100% alpaca and double wide on my David 3.

The second was alpaca weft and super wash merino warp.

The 100% alpaca is a bit thinner, but fine as a throw. I made it for my husband and he loves it.

They are both incredibly soft and warm.
