My Spring II arrived last week, and my son helped me put it together. Yesterday I put all the heddles on and started putting ties on the lams. My question is this: is it okay to put on all the lam ties and then attach to the treadles just as needed? I'm so excited to get a warp on and start weaving, but I'd rather do all those ties at once, since getting up and down from the floor is not the easiest thing for me.

When I start with a new Spring, I just put on the cords that I need for the first project. The next project I add some, move them around. The next project I'll slide them to wherever I need them and eventually the whole thing gets more and more. But it is nice to start out with just what you need until you are sure of the system. Hope this helps.

I know I am late to this Spring II party, but I was in YarnBarn today and made the mistake of sitting down to do some test weaving on both the David and Spring looms. I am seriously thinking about selling my Harrisville 4/6 loom and springing for a Spring loom. I have read several posts that indicate the challenge of tying up the CM loom. Can you make me feel more comfortable about it? I am not afraid to jump in and try new things, but if I am going to spend that kind of money, I want to make sure I will like it long-term. It will be my last and final loom! But it does weave like a dream :).

Nancy I had exactly the same worry. Enough that it held me off buying a Spring for several years. (I had woven on one at a class at Jane’s and it “fit me like a glove”. I knew it was my dream loom - but I’m an old dog and there seemed to be a lot of new tricks. BUT I WAS WRONG!!! I can learn new things and I haven’t found the tie up tricky at all! Everything has just worked so well and I am wondering why i waited so long. This is my forever loom - I’m in love! ❤️

Only six months. I was away from home for a good six weeks over Christmas and it was so hard to leave it behind but I’m making up for it now.

Hello all. I am a tall weaver with long legs (33” inseam). The Mighty Wolf was too small for me. I am interested in the Louet given Jane’s endorsement. I need a loom with mo more than 35” weaving width due to space constrictions. Would the Spring II be too small for me? The David III? Appreciate your input!

Julie, I think any loom with Texsolv heddles are quieter than a loom with metal heddles. Before my David, I had an AVL Home Loom...also Texsolv and pretty quiet IMHO..

It is quieter to release your treadles purposefully as opposed to letting them bang back when released.

I like my David 3 very much and would purchase it again. I've had him for a couple of years now. The 90cm is perfect for my needs. If AVL had offered the Home Loom in a 90ish cm width, I probably would have stayed with that brand (side tie-ups are fab).

I am assembling my new Spring 2 -8 shaft -110 and the beater at level of the breast beam cannot advance because the side wooden frame on both sides are tight against it. What is going on and how to fix?

Problem was related to washer placement of front wooden piece( breast beam ) at front of loom to sides. The manual appears to show twashers on inside screws but that position caused the wooden sides to bow out preventing beater movement for
A large distance ! Simply moving washers to opposite sues if post corrected the whole issue snd I have freely moving beater.

I am just about ready to warp my new, unfamiliar Spring 2. Like many I was fearful of scrambling about on the floor in order to fix the tie-up cords to the treadles. After getting thoroughly confused with conflicting instructions I scrapped the lot. In the end I fixed the folding back beam into transport mode, numbered the treadles, then sat on a lowish chair and tied from the back of the loom. Pretty easy, and no scrabbling! I also found it easier to only fit the necessary cords.

Another question re dressing the Spring 2: this may be obvious, but how is the apron rod attached to the warp beam?
I have studied Jane's 7yr old video, and the louet instructions, but this part of the process is not covered. Also, Louet no longer include the metal rod.. Do I simply tie on to thesingle apron rod?

I keep putting off actually doing all of this…
But the moment of truth is near!!
I plan to start doing it like Jane did in the video 7 years ago. I have a Spring II -110 cm
How long a stainless steel rod should I buy to supplement the wooden ones?
How long a warp to start with?
Will boucle be too hard for first warp?
