Thank you! I'll work on it today. This gives me assurance that all will work out. I'm a beginner and am worried about twisted threads at the back of my warp on the loom. Ask me how I know!!
Hello Mary- sometimes I think one of the important skills in weaving is learning how not to worry! I try to remind myself (NOT always successfully) that I am weaving for my own enjoyment, not to pass any exam, or earn a living (in my case anyway)....and to learn the skills of this wonderful craft little by little, without putting pressure on myself to get it right, or get it perfect in a particular period of time.
When I watch Jane at work at her loom, I see someone who has developed tremendous skill over several decades having started as a very young person, but what impresses me most is Jane's evident love of what she does, and after so long as a weaver, her enduring curiousity, enthusiasm and ability to get real enjoyment and fun out of what she does.
As someone who worked with children for many years, I was familiar with the idea that children learn through play......maybe those of us whose childhood seems a very long time ago need to re-harness that carefree spirit of discovery and experimentation, and remember Jane's central focus on having fun. I do not manage this myself often enough but I try to remind myself that 'This is supposed to be fun'! ....or else why am I doing it? :-)
