Not really an answer but perhaps partly a solution; I make my samples into towels . Scale up the pattern to 24 inch wide (so far it works out if I multiply each group by 1,5) Or just add some extra threads at the side, whatever gives you a better design. I find it works well. I can weave all samples and still have something useful.
